Luxor Governorate tour packages are the heart of any trip to Upper Egypt, with the ancient city of Thebes sitting on both banks of the Nile. On the east bank rise the colossal temples of Karnak and Luxor Temple, while the west bank holds the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Further south, the temple of Esna adds a Ptolemaic highlight. Visitors typically spend three or four days here, often boarding a Nile cruise to Aswan. The best months are October to April.

November to February is ideal, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. Summer is extremely hot, so visit sites at dawn.
