Embu County tour packages cover the south-eastern slopes of Mount Kenya, a fertile area of coffee, tea and rice farms. Embu town is a friendly regional centre with a lovely arboretum, and the county is the gateway to forest trails on the mountain.Further east, Mwea National Reserve spreads along the Tana River with elephants, buffalo, hippos and crocodiles, plus the lake-like reservoirs behind Kiambere and Kindaruma dams. The county is quiet, so visitors enjoy a peaceful alternative to the main safari circuits.
