June to October and January to February are dry, with clear views of Kilimanjaro in the early morning. Cloud often covers the mountain by noon.

Amboseli is about four hours by road from Nairobi, or a 45-minute flight to the park airstrip. Namanga on the Tanzanian border is the usual gate for road travellers.
