Kamweti tour packages provide access to the southern Mount Kenya trekking route, one of the least crowded trails on the mountain. The track starts in lush forest beyond the forest station and climbs through bamboo and heather to open moorland, with glimpses of Mount Kenya’s jagged peaks. Hikers need a Kenya Wildlife Service permit, a guide and warm clothing. Cold, foggy conditions are common, so allow extra time for acclimatisation.
