David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust tour packages include a visit to the elephant orphanage at the edge of Nairobi National Park. Visitors can watch baby elephants and rhinos being fed and splashing in mud baths during a one-hour public viewing each morning. The centre rescues orphans and reintroduces them to the wild at Tsavo. Entry is by timed slot, and you can also arrange foster adoptions of the calves. It is a touching way to start or end a safari.
