July to October is the best period for the Great Migration and river crossings. January to March is quieter with excellent lion and cheetah sightings.
Three nights are the minimum for the Mara, and four give you a better chance of a river crossing. Many itineraries combine it with Nakuru or Amboseli.
Fly from Nairobi Wilson airport to airstrips in the Mara in about 45 minutes, or drive for five to six hours. Many travellers from India use scheduled flights to save time.
