The city still has the Oba of Benin’s palace, the vast Benin Moat, once one of the longest earthworks on the planet, and lively craft districts of bronze casters. South-west of the capital, Okomu National Park protects rainforest and the rare white-throated monkey, while Esan towns such as Ekpoma and Igarra bring hills and local traditions to the north.
