The headline sight is Idanre Hills, a cluster of ancient granite hills with a long stone stairway of 660 steps that climbs to abandoned settlements, shrines and sweeping views. The capital Akure is a calm, hilly city, and Owo has a famed Olowo palace and a museum of ancient terracotta and ivory art. The southern Ilaje coast is lined with creeks and mangroves, giving the state a mix of mountain, forest and sea.
