Yobe tour packages are not usually available, as Yobe in the far north-east has been affected by insurgency. The state has semi-arid savannah, the capital Damaturu and the wetland of Nguru, a part of the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands where migratory birds gather each winter. The Kanuri and Fulani cultures dominate, and Gashua and Potiskum are the main trading towns. Many governments advise against travel to Yobe, and this is not a destination for holiday travel at present.
