Zamfara tour packages are not generally offered today. The state in north-western Nigeria is the old heartland of the Hausa kingdom of Zamfara, with a savannah landscape of farms and rivers. Gusau is the capital and main commercial town, and Kaura Namoda was once a major market town on the trans-Saharan route. Banditry and kidnapping are serious problems in the area, and many governments, including India’s, advise against travel, so it is not suitable for a holiday.
