Durban is warm all year, but April to September is dry and comfortable and best for game viewing in Hluhluwe. Summer, from November to March, is humid and ideal for beaches.
Allow five to seven days to combine Durban, a Zulu game reserve and the Drakensberg. A three-night trip suits Durban and the coast alone.
King Shaka International Airport near Durban has flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town, which connect with international flights from Mumbai and Delhi. Durban is about six hours by road from Johannesburg.
