May to September is the dry winter season, with clear skies and excellent game viewing around Hoedspruit. Summer is hot and humid with lush scenery and many bird species.
Allow three to four days for a private game reserve near Hoedspruit. Add two more days for Mapungubwe or the Waterberg.
Fly into Johannesburg and then take a short domestic flight to Hoedspruit or Phalaborwa, or drive about five hours. Polokwane has a smaller airport for northern Limpopo.
