October to April is the warm, dry season for beaches, wine tasting and the Garden Route, with November to March the peak. May to September is cooler and wetter but good for whale watching at Hermanus.
Allow at least five days for Cape Town and the Winelands, and eight to ten if you add the Garden Route and Oudtshoorn.
