Pemba North Region tour packages explore the quieter, greener island of the Zanzibar archipelago, with far fewer visitors than Unguja. Wete is the main town, and the Ngezi–Vumawimbi Forest Reserve protects the last tract of indigenous forest on Pemba, with the rare Pemba flying fox, a giant fruit bat.Right next to it, Vumawimbi Beach is a long, empty white beach with soft sand. Clove farms, village markets and the clear water of the Pemba Channel make the island ideal for divers and independent travellers.
