Tabora Region tour packages explore the historic centre of Tanzania’s old caravan routes. Tabora was once an important Arab trading post and the meeting point of ivory and slave routes from Lake Tanganyika to the coast, and today it keeps colonial buildings, a railway station and a museum.At Kwihara, a restored Arab-style tembe was used by Livingstone and later by Stanley in the 19th century. Ugalla River National Park is a remote wilderness of woodland and rivers with elephants, hippos and many birds. Tabora also sits on the central railway line.
