Kabul tourism ranges from Mughal gardens to Hindu Kush views, in a capital ringed by snowy mountains at 1,800 metres. The terraced Bagh-e Babur holds the tomb of the first Mughal emperor, a place of deep interest to Indian visitors, while the Darul Aman Palace and the National Museum reflect more recent history. Within an hour of the city are pleasant retreats such as Paghman, Qargha Lake and Istalif. Spring and autumn are lovely, and winters are cold and snowy. Please note that travel to Kabul is currently discouraged by most governments, including India’s, because of security risks.
