Hongcun is a Huizhou village laid out in the shape of an ox, with a pond forming its stomach and a stream running through as the intestines. White walls, black tiles and carved wooden lintels fill its lanes, and the scenes appeared in the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Early mornings and rainy days offer a painterly mood. It is a UNESCO site shared with Xidi.
