Ciqikou is a restored riverside old town with cobbled lanes, tea houses and shops that date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, when porcelain was shipped from the river port. Visitors can try local sesame-twist snacks, watch street performances and browse handicrafts. It is crowded at weekends but atmospheric on weekday evenings. Allow two hours, and enjoy the walk to the river terraces.
