Hebei tourism surrounds Beijing and offers some of northern China’s best heritage sites away from the capital’s crowds. Chengde holds the vast imperial Mountain Resort and its Tibetan-style temples, while Shanhaiguan is the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall, where it meets the sea. Along the Bohai coast the resort town of Beidaihe is a summer retreat with beaches and sea air. The province is best explored by road or train from Beijing in two or three days, and late spring and early autumn are the most comfortable seasons.

May to June and September to October are mild and clear. Beidaihe's beaches are busiest in July and August.
Yes. Chengde is about two to four hours from Beijing by train or road, and Shanhaiguan is reached by high-speed train in roughly two hours.
Two days are enough for Chengde, and a third adds Shanhaiguan and Beidaihe. Most visitors treat the province as an extension to a Beijing stay.
