Changbai Mountain is a dormant volcano on the China-North Korea border and the source of three major rivers. Its highest point, reached by jeep, overlooks the vast blue Heaven Lake. Visitors also see the Changbai Waterfall, hot springs and alpine meadows with wildflowers in summer. The park is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The viewing season is short, usually June to September.
