Chitrakote Falls on the Indravati River is the widest waterfall in India, spreading about 300 metres across a horseshoe of rock. In the monsoon, the water turns brown and thunders spectacularly, while after the rains it softens into several streams. Boat rides take you close to the cascade. It is about 40 km from Jagdalpur, and July to October gives the strongest flow.
