Surajkund is an ancient reservoir built in the tenth century and now best known for the annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela. Each February, craftspeople from across India and abroad set up stalls of textiles, pottery and folk performance. The semicircular amphitheatre is a striking sight, and the Aravalli hills nearby add greenery. It lies just outside Delhi in Faridabad, so a half-day trip works.
