Patnitop is a cool hill resort at around 2,000 metres, on the highway between Jammu and Srinagar. Its meadows and pine forests make a restful break, and Nathatop and Sanasar are nearby for paragliding and hikes. In winter, the area gets plenty of snow. Many families stay a night here on the way to the valley, and it makes an easy side trip.
