Chilika Lake is Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon and a Ramsar wetland. Winter brings hundreds of thousands of migratory birds, including flamingos, and Irrawaddy dolphins are seen near Satapada. Boat rides visit Nalabana Bird Sanctuary and the island temple of Kalijai. The lake is best from November to February. Barkul and Rambha are other bases.
