Bandung is known for its Art Deco buildings, cafés and factory outlets, and the nearby volcano Tangkuban Perahu and Kawah Putih crater lake in Ciwidey are favourites. Bogor has a famous botanical garden, Pangandaran brings Indian Ocean beaches, and Cirebon adds royal palaces and batik. The Sundanese people give the province its own food, music and language. Allow four to five days, with May to September the best season.

May to September is the drier season and best for hill sights and beaches. The highlands are cool all year, so carry a light jacket.
Three days cover Bandung and its crater lakes. Add two more for Bogor, Cirebon or Pangandaran.
Fly to Jakarta and drive about three hours to Bandung, or take the fast train that covers the route in under an hour. Bandung also has flights from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
