May to September is the driest period and suits river trips. The Cap Go Meh festival in Singkawang falls in February or March and is a highlight.
Three days cover Pontianak and Singkawang. Danau Sentarum needs three or four more because of the long journeys.
Fly to Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur and continue to Pontianak's Supadio Airport. Singkawang is about three hours by road from Pontianak.
