April to October is the dry season and the best time for beaches, the Gilis and Rinjani treks. The Rinjani trails are generally closed in the wet season, from January to March.
Four to five days cover the Gili Islands and the south coast of Lombok. A Rinjani summit trek needs three days on its own.
Fly to Bali or Jakarta and take a short flight to Lombok International Airport, or take the fast boat from Padang Bai in Bali. Many travellers combine Bali and Lombok.
