Kerman is Iran’s largest province and combines desert wonders with ancient cities. The vast Lut Desert, a UNESCO site, has some of the hottest ground on earth and strange wind-carved ridges called kaluts.The mud-brick fortress of Bam, once the largest adobe structure in the world, stands partly restored after the 2003 earthquake. Mahan has the Shazdeh Garden, and the walled town of Rayen keeps its citadel. Kerman tour packages reward adventurous travellers. The best time is October to April, since summers are extremely hot.
