Chalus is a lively town on the Caspian coast and the starting point of the famous Chalus Road, one of Iran’s most scenic mountain drives. The Chalus Road climbs through forests to Kandovan Pass and then down toward Tehran. The coast has beaches, fish restaurants and, in winter, calm sea views. Chalus tour packages are popular with Iranian families in summer, and the road is spectacular in autumn when the leaves change colour.
