Tochal is a mountain resort above Tehran, reached by a long gondola lift that climbs from the northern suburbs to about 3,700 metres. A ski resort operates in winter, and in summer the area is used for hiking and picnics, with views of the whole city. The upper station has restaurants and walking paths to the summit. Tochal tour packages are best on clear days, and warm clothes are needed even in summer.
