The great draw of the places to visit in Dogo Onsen is the Dogo Onsen Honkan, a majestic wooden bathhouse from 1894, which is believed to have inspired the bathhouse in Spirited Away. The hot spring is said to be three thousand years old. Visitors can bathe in the public bath or take a private room with tea and sweets. The covered shopping arcade next to the bathhouse is pleasant in the evening. A tram line connects it to Matsuyama.
