Ilocos Region tour packages combine heritage towns with long coastlines on the north-west of Luzon. Vigan is a UNESCO-listed Spanish-era town of cobbled streets and horse carriages, Paoay Church is a striking Baroque landmark, and Pagudpud has pale-sand beaches and the windmills at Bangui. To the south, Hundred Islands National Park in Pangasinan is popular for island hopping, and San Juan in La Union is the surf town. The region is also known for crisp empanada and bagnet, a local pork dish. It makes a good loop of five to seven days.

November to April is dry and ideal for beaches and sightseeing. Typhoons and heavy rain between July and October can make travel difficult.
Four to five days cover Vigan, Laoag and Pagudpud, and a sixth or seventh day adds Hundred Islands or San Juan.
Laoag has an airport with flights from Manila, while Vigan is about eight to nine hours by road. Many travellers prefer a private vehicle for a loop through the coast.
