Camiguin, the island born of fire, has volcanoes, hot springs, white-sand islets and waterfalls on a compact 60-kilometre loop. Cagayan de Oro is the white-water rafting capital of the country, and the highland resort area of Dahilayan in Bukidnon adds zip lines and cool air. Iligan is known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls. The region is generally calmer than the western part of Mindanao, but check current travel advisories before booking.

March to May is the driest period for Camiguin and the beach islets. Rafting at Cagayan de Oro works best from June to November when rivers are high.
Four to five days cover Camiguin and Cagayan de Oro. Add a day for Dahilayan if you enjoy adventure activities.
Fly to Cagayan de Oro and take a road transfer to Balingoan, then a ferry to Camiguin, which takes about three hours in total. Camiguin also has a small airport with limited flights.
