November to April is the best period, with sunshine and calm seas. The rainy season from June to October brings choppy water and fewer boats.
Two to three nights are enough for Koh Samet. Add a night if you also want the mainland beaches and waterfalls.
Fly into Bangkok from India and drive about 3 hours east to Ban Phe pier, then take a 30-minute ferry to Koh Samet. U-Tapao Airport is a nearer alternative on some routes.
