Tak tour packages cover a large north-western province on the Myanmar border, with hills, rivers and remarkable waterfalls. Mae Sot is a trading town with Burmese-style temples and bustling markets, while Umphang in the southern hills is a base for the vast Thi Lo Su Waterfall, one of the largest in Thailand. Rafting on the Mae Klong and trekking through forest add adventure. Because Tak borders Myanmar, travellers should check current conditions and avoid the immediate border zone. Away from the border, the scenery is spectacular and few visitors come.

Fly into Bangkok from India and take a domestic flight to Mae Sot, or fly to Phitsanulok and drive about 3 hours. The road to Umphang has about 1,200 curves.
