Kilis tourism is a short, quiet stop for travellers following the Gaziantep and Hatay trail along Turkey’s southern border with Syria. It is the smallest province in the region, a place of olive groves, pistachio trees and old stone houses. The town is known for its olive oil soap, sweet pastries and fine cooking, and the Oylum Mound outside town reveals layers of Bronze Age history. Kilis was affected by the 2023 earthquakes and lies next to a sensitive border, so ask your operator about current conditions and advisories before visiting.
