Tram Chim is a protected wetland in the Plain of Reeds, famous as a wintering ground for the red-headed sarus crane. Visitors paddle small boats among reeds and water lilies and climb a watchtower for views across the water. Cranes are most often seen from January to May, in the dry season, while water levels in the wet season give a different green scene. A day trip from Cao Lanh is typical, and early mornings are best for birds.
