Do Son is a peninsula resort about 20 kilometres from Hai Phong city, with beaches, pine-covered hills and seafood restaurants. Visitors enjoy sea views, the Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival in August and the stretch of coast popular with local weekend visitors. The beaches are better for strolling than for swimming, and the area is crowded in summer. It makes a half-day add-on to a Hai Phong trip, and the city centre has colonial buildings worth a stop.
