Can Gio is a UNESCO biosphere reserve of mangrove forest on the coast south-east of Ho Chi Minh City. Visitors take boat tours through the channels, visit Monkey Island, see a crocodile farm and eat fresh seafood at riverside restaurants. It feels very different from the busy city and is about two hours away by road and ferry. A day trip is typical, and the best time is the dry season from December to April.
