O Quy Ho Pass stretches for about 50 kilometres between Lao Cai and Lai Chau, winding along the flank of the Hoang Lien Son range. The summit, around 2,000 metres, is known as Cloud Gate because of the mist that sweeps across the road. The route passes the Thac Bac (Silver Waterfall) and gives views toward Fansipan. Weather can change fast, so check conditions and travel with an experienced driver. Stop for photos and tea at the viewpoint cafés.
