Cua Lo is a seaside town 15 kilometres from Vinh, known for its wide, gently sloping beach and casuarina trees. In summer it fills with domestic holidaymakers, and fresh crab, squid and grilled fish are on every menu. Boats run to small islands such as Lan Chau, and the nearby Cua Hien area is quieter. The beach is best between May and August. A one-night stay is enough as a break between Hanoi and Hue.
