Kukës County tour packages are made for those who love high mountains. The northern part of the county includes the glacier-carved Valbonë Valley National Park, where guesthouses sit between limestone peaks and a turquoise river. The classic trek from Valbonë over a high pass to Theth begins here, and the small town of Bajram Curri is the main base. The large reservoir of Lake Fierza lies in the county and starts the famous Koman ferry route. Travel from June to September, as snow lingers on the high passes into early summer.

June to September is best, as the high passes are open and the valleys are warm. Winters bring heavy snow to the mountains.
Plan three to four days for Valbonë and Bajram Curri. Add one more day if you want to take the Fierza to Koman ferry.
The journey takes about six hours by road to Bajram Curri, followed by a short transfer to Valbonë. Most Indian travellers fly into Tirana first.
