The coastal road from Vlorë climbs through the Llogara Pass national park, passes white-pebble coves at Dhërmi and Himarë, and descends to the lively harbour of Sarandë, opposite Corfu. June to September is best for swimming, with July and August the busiest. May and late September offer warm weather with fewer crowds.

Sarandë is about five to six hours by road from Tirana. Travellers from India often fly into Tirana, and some arrive by ferry from Corfu.
