Styria tourism is the green heart of Austria, a state of forested hills, vineyards, thermal spas and mountain lakes that most Indian visitors have yet to discover. The capital Graz is a UNESCO-listed old town with a futuristic art museum, and the south of the state is known as a wine road with pumpkin-seed oil on every menu.To the north lie the Dachstein and Schladming mountains, with winter skiing and summer hiking, plus the quiet lakes of Bad Aussee and Grundlsee. Mariazell is Austria’s main pilgrimage site and Riegersburg has a dramatic hilltop castle. Plan two to four days, and visit between May and October for the best weather.

Fly to Vienna, then take a two-and-a-half-hour train to Graz. Graz's own airport has connecting flights from some European hubs.
