Centre-Val de Loire tour packages follow the Loire, the longest river in France, through a valley of fairy-tale châteaux, gardens and vineyards. The region was the playground of French kings, and the UNESCO-listed Loire Valley holds more than three hundred castles. Chambord has a famous double-helix staircase, Chenonceau spans the River Cher on graceful arches and Amboise keeps the final home of Leonardo da Vinci. Chartres Cathedral, with its glowing stained glass, is a masterpiece of Gothic art.May to September is best, with gardens at their peak in June.

May to September is ideal, with gardens in bloom in June and long daylight for châteaux. April and October are quieter, while winter is cold and some sites close.
Two days cover three or four major châteaux. Three to four days let you add Chartres, Blois and Tours at an easy pace.
Fly to Paris and take a train to Tours or Blois in one to one and a half hours. A car or a guided day tour makes the châteaux much easier to reach.
