Western Greece tour packages combine the birthplace of the Olympic Games at Ancient Olympia with the port city of Patras and the Gulf of Corinth. The region also includes mountain villages above Kalavryta and the Venetian harbour of Nafpaktos, and it links easily to the Ionian Islands.A key attraction is the modern Rio–Antirrio bridge, a long cable-stayed span that crosses the gulf, along with the rack railway that runs through the Vouraikos Gorge. The region is quieter than Athens or the islands, so it suits history lovers and road-trippers. Two to three days are enough, ideally between April and October.

April to June and September to October are best, with comfortable weather for Olympia and the coast. Kalavryta is also popular in winter for its ski centre.
One night covers Ancient Olympia, and two to three days let you add Patras, Nafpaktos and Kalavryta.
Olympia is about four hours from Athens by road. Many travellers also reach it by driving from Nafplio or from the Ionian port of Kyllini.
