Glendalough tour packages visit the ‘Valley of Two Lakes’, where St Kevin founded a monastery in the 6th century. A 30-metre round tower, a cathedral, a gateway and a tiny church called St Kevin’s Kitchen survive in the wooded glen, and trails lead beside the Upper and Lower Lakes and up to old mining villages. Many walkers do the Spinc ridge loop for views. It is the most visited site in Wicklow, so go early to avoid crowds.
