Grado tour packages offer a calm Adriatic beach break, away from the busier Italian coast. Known as the Sun Island, this old fishing town sits on a lagoon, with a long sandy beach, thermal spa baths and a medieval centre of narrow lanes and an early Christian basilica. Seafood restaurants line the harbour, and the lagoon has tiny islands with fishermen’s huts. The season runs from late May to September, and Grado is easy to combine with Trieste.
