Coimbra District tour packages are for travellers who enjoy history and learning. Coimbra is Portugal’s old university city, with a UNESCO-listed hilltop campus, a baroque library and the soulful Coimbra style of fado. Nearby are the vast Roman ruins of Conímbriga, the enchanted Buçaco Forest with its neo-Manueline palace and the schist village of Piódão. The district sits roughly midway between Lisbon and Porto. Two to three days suit it well. Spring and autumn bring the best weather, and student life peaks from October to June.
