Évora District tour packages explore the Alentejo’s cultural heart. The walled city of Évora has a Roman temple, a Gothic cathedral and the eerie Chapel of Bones, all within a UNESCO-listed centre. Marble-built Estremoz and the hilltop village of Monsaraz overlook the Alqueva reservoir, one of Europe’s largest artificial lakes and a Dark Sky reserve. The area is known for cork, olives and rich red wines. Two to three days work well. Spring and October are the most comfortable seasons.

March to May and late September to October are mild and green. July and August are very hot, with temperatures often over 38 degrees Celsius.
Two days cover Évora and a day trip to Monsaraz or Estremoz. Three days allow wine tastings and stargazing.
Fly to Lisbon and take a train or bus to Évora, which takes about 1.5 hours. A rental car helps for Monsaraz and the wineries.
